Currently (July 2019) West Armidale Medical Centre has a shortage of doctors and we will not be accepting new patients except for babies and pregnant mothers. Hopefully this will only be for a short time. We are endeavoring to employ another doctor to solve this problem.
Please ring the surgery to make an appointment. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred appointment time and GP. If your medical problem is urgent or an emergency please inform the receptionist. If an emergency appointment is not available, the receptionist will ask your doctor to advise you.
Home visits are offered for Nursing Home visits, palliative care patients, disabled patients and elderly house bound patients on a regular basis.
Your appointment will be for 15 minutes therefore it is important to book a longer consultation if you feel you require one. Examples of longer consultations would be:
- For a new patient
- More than 2 separate problems to discuss
- An excision, eg having a mole removed
- A procedure, eg having an Implanon or IUD inserted or removed
- Pre-employment medical
- Centrelink or RTA form to fill out
After Hours Visits
For the safety of our Medical staff, after hours consultations are organized with the GP on call directly. Consultations may occur at Accident and Emergency Department of Armidale Hospital or at the surgery.
In conjunction with another local GP surgery, a 24 hr on call service is provided for regular patients of West Armidale Medical Centre for genuine emergencies only. Telephoning the surgery will access a recorded message with the contact details of the doctor on call. If a consultation is needed, an after hours fee may apply.
